Format a number as a currency string with a dollar sign and two decimal places. For example, 10.5 should be formatted as "$10.50".
Examples:
Input: amount = 10.5
Output: "$10.50"
Explanation: Added dollar sign and formatted to two decimal places
Input: amount = 1234.56
Output: "$1,234.56"
Explanation: Added dollar sign, comma separator for thousands, and maintained two decimal places
